Boccia Director Position

This position is being created by the Cerebral Palsy Society to increase the number of boccia clubs and players in NZ. As Boccia is a game specifically targeted at people with CP, the Society sees this position as vital to enhancing the lives of its members. The Society has committed to funding this position for two years. At the end of this the situation will be re-evaluated.
The Cerebral Palsy Society has agreed with Boccia NZ that Boccia NZ’s focus will be the elite international players and sanctioned tournaments, with the Society focusing on the establishment of new clubs, new players and non-sanctioned tournaments.
It is a fulltime position, based at the Society’s Office in Royal Oak in Auckland. The person will report to the General Manager of the Cerebral Palsy Society. It is envisaged that the initial period and trialing of strategies will be in Auckland, before expanding out to other areas.

Duties would include:
• Marketing the sport to organizations/schools. Presentation to interested groups would be an integral component of the position.
• Identifying opportunities to set up clubs
• Training key people in the maintenance and marketing of their club
• Farming the Society’s membership to get people with CP into the sport.
• Liaising and co-operating with other sporting bodies in the disability sector.
• Identifying people with international potential and fostering a pathway to the National team.
• To organise and implement a ‘player transport’ strategy and a ‘volunteers’ strategy.

The applicant should have the following attributes
• Have good time management, be able to self manage and be disciplined.
• Be familiar with Boccia
• Dynamic, self motivated and innovative
• Familiar with Microsoft Office products
• Have drivers license and own vehicle (Society pays business mileage)

The salary range is envisaged to be around $45k/annum.
