Inter-ACT Disability Arts Festival
28th-30th October 2011
Corbans Estate Arts Centre and Glen Eden Playhouse
West Auckland

“Interacting” is organising an exciting disability arts festival that will provide three days of arts activities for people of all abilities. The disability arts theatre company is seeking expressions of interests from Workshop Leaders/Facilitators and artists, who are searching for an opportunity to showcase their talents on and off the stage. So if you want to be involved, now is the time to register and to begin planning your show, art work, musical piece, wearable art or whatever.

You do not have to create original work to present at the festival. You may have a piece of work, performance or art work that your students have already presented elsewhere but would love to present to a different audience. Keep it simple, if performing; think in terms of 10-15 minutes in length. Email the Festival Coordinator Paula at interacting@ihug.co.nz if you need more information or want to discuss ideas.

Participants are expected to come from a wide range of groups including professional artists and performers, disabled people of all ages and their family and friends, arts administrators, policymakers and producers, those working in the Deaf, mental health and disability sectors, specialist staff, teachers and teacher aides working with disabled students and learners with special educational needs and students of special schools and units

“The organisers of InterACT are striving for a ‘community’ feel to the event, where all audience, performers and participants come together to celebrate the creativity and achievements of disabled people in the arts. Friday 28th October is Schools Day when pupils of Special schools and units are encouraged to attend, perform and participate
