Brunch at Barrel Hall (Auckland)

Savouring excellent food and enjoying convivial company.... There is no better way to spend a lazy Sunday morning.
One hundred and sixty plus members of the Society gathered on Sunday, (5th December), at Mangere’s Villa Maria to indulge in brunch in the Barrel Hall. There is nothing like bacon, eggs and sausages to set up the day, in between telling tales, true or embellished, of the good old days.
The atmosphere suggested the festive season was upon us and this was confirmed by the MAN himself, dressed in red and handing out gifts.
The kids got toys, the adults received vouchers. The getOutThere vouchers were the most treasured, as the programme continues to be a godsend to help members get out and about. Santa seemed somehow in the know about what goes on in the office and he even had knowledge of the ninetieth birthday of one J W Flood. Da MAN in red is truly magical.
Fortunately for expanding stomachs, members had the opportunity to stroll around the magnificent Villa Maria Estate, to work off over indulgence.
The stroll is hardly an exercise, as the winery is a beautiful salute to the grape and all that it entails.

Well done Janet Chapman, our very own members manager, who keeps on producing memorable events throughout the year.

Don’t forget this event was a mere entree to our 60th Anniversary. This milestone celebration will be held at the Auckland Museum on the 12th March 2011 commencing at 4.30pm.
The countdown has already started!!!
