Difficult terrain no sweat for Beachwheels

The sunny weather is just around the corner. It’s almost time for Kiwis to shred their working clothes and don the guise of a beachcomber. An all terrain Beachmobile makes it possible for wheelchair users to join the sun seekers. This summer “Gone fishing” could mean something more than a mere slogan on a car’s back window.

Take a look at the impressive video on Beachwheels New Zealand website www.beachwheels.co.nz/.  As it states on its site “Going to the beach is part of the Kiwi lifestyle. The Beachwheels makes traversing beaches or difficult terrain easy and effortless.”

The video backs up this statement as it shows how easy it is to access beaches compared to days gone by where soft sand and slender wheels were a recipe for disaster and frustration.

Slender wheels have been replaced by “fats” that smoothly overcome treacherous cavities and sudden dips.
As the video shows the Beachwheels is easy to dismantle and takes minimum space in the boot of a vehicle.  Also available is a beach conversion kit which allows a regular manual wheelchair to easily be converted into a Beach Wheelchair.

Its features include, 3 Safety Restraints, anti Roll Braking, Stabilized PVC Frame and a retractable Arm Rest & Foot Rest. It even has an Umbrella Holder.

The Chair is available for rent ($150 for a week’s hire) If you are planning to be a permanent beachcomber the chair costs $NZ2999 including GST and comes in two sizes Small—Up to 60kg and Large—Up to 110kg
