getOnYourTrikes gets on TV1

A slick and informative TV1 news item gave Chris Haverkort some well deserved recognition as he continues to supply custom made tricycles for children with cerebral palsy (see link to news item below) The getOnYourTrike project, which is funded by the Society, has given the youngsters countless hours of freedom and independence
.
Chris started making the trikes for his CP daughter Brooke when she grew out of her childhood cycle. Much to the Haverkort’s family dismay there was no suitable substitution and Brooke was in danger of losing her independent lifestyle. Chris decided to take on the task of building her a trike himself and this was so successful he wanted other kids to experience the joy of self propelled mobility.

Chris approached the Society and the result has produced a fleet of trikes which can be hired from the Society.

The very manoeuvrable trikes come in different sizes which enables the child to transfer seamlessly to a bigger version once he or she outgrows his or her current cycle. They also have different braking options for children with different abilities.

As soon as they are road worthy the tricycles are put into a pool by the Cerebral Palsy Society and hired out at $10 a month, to families who request them
