GIVE BOCCIA A GO
OUT WEST AUCKLAND

Well folks it’s time to get out of your armchair and enter the intriguing world of Boccia. Our new Director of Boccia Luke Morriss has organised a fun two hour session - 6pm-8pm - on Thursday 23rd September, at West Wave Recreational Centre (20 Alderman Drive, Henderson) Everyone is welcome.

Boccia is a great social sport where lifelong friends can be made. It’s a sport which can easily be modified on club nights, so you could end up playing teams, pairs or practicing on target mats, aiming for the bulls eye, which produces the highest score.

On these kinds of nights the emphasis is on fun and laughter and having a good time.  If you find Boccia is your scene you can enter tournaments around the country and if you get really good the sport can take you overseas to world champs and ultimately the Paralympics.

However the initial goal is to enjoy the experience and to socialise with new people.
   

To add to the social occasion the CP Society is offering to shout you and your carer dinner, before the Boccia session, at Lincoln Road MacDonalds on the corner of Lincoln Rd and Moselle Ave, Henderson.  If you want to take up this option, met us there at 5pm. We will be departing for the recreational centre at 5.40pm

Urgent
Old Photos Wanted

Historical photos are urgently required, as the Society heads towards its 60th Anniversary, in early March. A large chunk of the time left is taken up by the Christmas holiday period, so we need to gather up imagery of the past, by the end of October.

Please contact General Manager Harvey Brunt as soon as possible to ensure your historic photos are photo copied in a completely safe environment. Ring 0800 503 603 Email cpsociety@cpsociety.org.nz

The photos are needed for the Anniversary booklet and presentation which will be part of the ceremony, on the night of March 12th 2011.

Have A Go Bowls Event
Halberg Trust and Westpac are hosting a Community Initiative Have A Go Bowls Event. This event will be held at Remuera Bowling Club (6 Market Road Remuera) on Sunday the 3rd of October from 1pm until 3.30pm.  It’s a round robin pairs or triples competition with expert tips and pointers on technique and FREE TEE-SHIRTS.

Director of Boccia Position
We are pleased to announce that Luke Morriss has been appointed to the position of Director of Boccia for the Cerebral Palsy Society. Luke will begin this full time position on the 1st Sep 2010 and will be based at the Society's office in Royal Oak in Auckland. I am excited about this initiative that the Board has agreed to. The sporting benefits for our members as well as the strengthening of Boccia in NZ will be its outcomes.
