Sharing festivities with Elvis and Santa

Ali Dee gets the Santa treatment

On Sunday 13th December diets were put on hold, at the “Top of the Park” restaurant, as 200 members of the Auckland branch of the Cerebral Palsy Society sat down to a delicious Christmas lunch.
Eating at Alexander Park was only seriously interrupted by a few birthday wishes and a couple of unexpected visitors. A prominent member of the birthday group was Shannon Frahm who actually celebrated her birth date on the day. She was certainly dressed for the occasion wearing a beautiful rainbow coloured outfit. Shannon’s friends bought her a surprise birthday cake which we all shared.
To everyone’s surprise “Elvis” popped in to spread his special Christmas cheer and everyone crooned along to his ever green classics.
As “Elvis“ left the building an important seasonal figure dressed in red arrived. Yes, it was dear old Santa to give everyone festive greetings and to hand out parcels.
Now we are not one to gossip but we must reveal that Kaylene Dobson dared questioned the existence of Santa. She did change her mind however when she received $300 worth of taxi vouchers. Funny that!!!
As soon as Santa cranked up his reindeer and left it was time to invade the dance floor to boogie to the sounds of the Pancho family. Albert, Menchie and Jake make up the members of the “Family Affair” trio and they soon had everyone shaking their booty. Jake has just produced a CD full of instrumental pieces influenced by his Spanish heritance.
It was another great afternoon event, thanks once again to the organisational skills of Janet Chapman, Harvey Brunt and Michael Northcott.

PS Janet, you did look adorable in those reindeer antlers

TODD FERNIE
..IS FAREWELLED

A chance to pay your own tribute
Todd's funeral occured on Thursday the 17th Dec, a crowd of around 350 said farewell. Todd would have been surprised with how much he had been loved. He had touched many lives, set many a person with a disability onto the right course, what a loss.....Seven people were asked by the family to speak. Allowing the attendees to pay tribute was not really practical. In light of this I invite those who wish to pay their tribute to Todd to email it to me at
harvey@cpsociety.org.nz

Todd was a current Board Member of the Cerebral Palsy Society and was beginning his third year of service, he was also a director on the Board of Iris Ltd. But more importantly he was a darn good friend and I am going to miss him heaps!
