| Lynette Hawke chose
three songs to play at her thanksgiving service, held in the Garden
Chapel of the Morrison Funeral Home, in Henderson, on Thursday 19th
November.
Each song conveyed a message from her soul. “Climb Every Mountain”
represented her struggle to carve out a life for herself despite
her severe form of Cerebral Palsy. “Laced Covered Windows”
epitomize her hopes and dreams and “I Did It My Way”
told of her determination.
Her friends and caregivers gave an honest appraisal of Lynette as
it was revealed she could be difficult at times.
“She was very human like you and I,” said her Pastor.
It also became obvious that they all had a deep love and respect
for her.
Lynette was totally dependent on her care-givers but in her own
way she was independent, as she had the ability to communicate her
needs, despite being non verbal. Her care givers spoke of their
willingness to go that extra mile for her. They played computer
games with her, many times they laughed with her and towards the
end they cried with her.
During her 68 years she touched many with her strong will to live,
to experience, to savour every emotion.
She loved roses, parakeets and people.
People loved her back.
Lynette Ann Hawke passed away on 16th November 2009 at Auckland
City Hospital.
